Trade & Education
UK Tufting supplies rug tufting equipment, recycled yarn and consumables to schools, colleges, universities and community art centres across the UK. We are a small London maker business running our own tufting studio in Hackney Wick, so you are dealing with people who use this equipment every week rather than a catalogue reseller.
Trade and education pricing
Trade discount is tiered by order value and applies across the whole catalogue: tufting guns, frames, Loop 8 recycled yarn, primary and secondary backing, adhesives and finishing tools.
| Order value | Discount | Typical order |
|---|---|---|
| £300 and over | 10% | One gun, one frame and a starter yarn range |
| £750 and over | 15% | Two to three workstations for a class |
| £1,500 and over | 20% | A full department set up, or a term of consumables |
Trade codes are issued with your account rather than published on the site, so your pricing stays yours. Send us the details using the form at the bottom of this page and we will normally set you up the same working day.
Who we work with
- Secondary school and sixth form art, textiles and design technology departments
- Further education colleges and university textiles, fashion, surface design and fine art courses
- Community art centres, youth projects and charities
- Makerspaces, artist studios, prop makers and set builders ordering in volume
Workshops and staff training
Most departments buy the equipment and then need someone to get staff confident with it. We run rug tufting workshops from our Hackney Wick studio and on site at schools and centres, so we can cover both.
- Half day teacher and technician training on gun setup, tension, threading, safety and maintenance
- On site student workshops, run by our team with equipment brought to you
- Studio visits at Tradestars Hackney Wick for groups and trips
Tell us your group size, age range and how long you have, and we will put a plan and a price together.
Ordering, quotes and invoicing
- Quotes are issued in writing and held for 30 days, so they survive a budget cycle.
- Purchase orders and invoicing are arranged case by case. Tell us what your finance team needs and we will work with it.
- Free UK delivery on orders over £60. Larger orders that include frames are quoted with delivery confirmed in writing before anything is invoiced.
- Stock can be reserved ahead of a term start if you give us your dates. Most of our range is held in London, and larger restocks arrive by sea, so early notice matters for big orders.
- Need one item now and the rest next term? We can split delivery across a single quote.
Why Loop 8 works in a teaching space
- 100% recycled GRS certified PET, which makes it easy to evidence against sustainability aims in a scheme of work
- 600g cones in super bulky 8 ply, so a class fills a frame fast and sees a result in one session
- 115 colours held in stock, with repeatable colour numbers for reordering next term
- Soft, forgiving and machine washable, which suits beginners and mixed ability groups
- Best suited to plush flat pile and colour blocking rather than sharp carved relief, which is usually what a teaching group wants anyway
- Made by our sister company Cheekyarn CIC, so supply and pricing stay under one roof
